As part of that effort, the MEDC worked with NextEnergy to improve Michigan's capacity for wind energy system manufacturing. NextEnergy helped develop and deliver an educational program that enabled Michigan manufacturing firms to diversify into the wind energy sector, transition their technology solutions from existing industries like automotive into this new growth sector, and ultimately retain and create new Michigan jobs when they were desperately needed.
